Livingstone Range school enrollment has slight decline

FP Walshe School

Schools in Fort Macleod and Granum this year are bucking the trend of declining enrollment in Livingstone Range School Division.
F.P. Walshe school has 386 full-time equivalent students, an increase of 28 from projections in the spring and 32 more than the last term.
Granum school has 68.5 students, which is nine more than projected in the spring and 8.5 more than last term.
“These are preliminary numbers,” associate superintendent of business services Jeff Perry said. “They are not the final numbers.”
Perry presented a report on enrollment at the Sept. 18 school board meeting at the G.R. Davis Administration Building in Fort Macleod.
As of Sept. 14, Livingstone Range schools had 3,391 students registered.
That’s up 11 students from projections last spring, but down 12.5 from the 2017-’18 term.
The key date for enrollment is Sept. 30.
That’s the deadline for student numbers to be submitted to the province for funding.
