South Country Fair has established itself as one of the premier small music festivals in Canada.
Held each July in picturesque Fort Macleod Fish and Game Park, the South Country Fair has a mandate of bringing together an eclectic mix of artists to introduce audiences to new genres of music.
South Country Fair’s roots date back 32 years to when a small group of people decided to come
together for a weekend of music.
From that humble beginning, South Country Fair has become an important date on the summer music festival calendar, each year attracting more than 2,500 people for three days of music.
South Country Fair provides performances on two stages by artists representing a wide variety of musical styles. The performers range from some of the world’s top musicians to emerging artists.
South Country Fair is a true festival, with many other activities in addition to the music.
In Lotus Land, top poets perform their original work in the tradition of the spoken word.
Entertainment is provided for children in Kidz Kountry, and there is a merchant’s village in which fair-goers can shop for goods and services ranging from clothes to henna tattoos. There is a focus on wellness with yoga, tai chi and other classes and
sessions.
The 2018 South Country Fair is July 20-22 at Fort Macleod Fish and Game Park. For details visit www.southcountryfair.com.
