Trotter, Lawrence Irwin

Lawrence Irwin Trotter was born in Fort Macleod on May 26, 1929 and passed away peacefully at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge on Monday, Oct. 15, 2018, at the age of 89 years.
Lawrence is survived by his children Ron (Carol) Trotter, Christine (Rory) MacLeod, Laurel Wintemute, Kathy Trotter, Jason (Tamara) Trotter and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Lawrence was predeceased by his father Irwin Trotter; his mother Grace Clarke and stepfather Jack Clarke; his infant daughter Sydney Trotter; son Craig Trotter; and daughter-in-law Anna; brothers Orman and Allen Trotter; and son-in-law Larry Wintemute.
Lawrence was born and raised in Fort Macleod. His family moved from North Dakota to farm south of Fort Macleod.
Lawrence married Norma Strong on Aug. 26, 1950 and together they raised their children on the family farm.
He later started Trotter Contracting Ltd., along with his brother Allen and later his sons Ron and Craig and nephews.
Lawrence was a long-time member of the Elks Club and the Royal Canadian Legion, as well as supporting various organizations within the community.
Music was a passion throughout Lawrence’s life. He loved to play guitar and sing, entertaining young and old alike — no matter what the venue.
Lawrence worked hard, played hard and lived life on his own terms.
A private family graveside will be held in Union cemetery in Fort Macleod.
