Patricia Degenstein, beloved wife of Mike Degenstein, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at the age of 78 years. With sorrow we announce that our dear wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother has unexpectedly passed away peacefully at Fort Macleod Extendicare. Besides her loving husband Mike of 54 years, Patricia is survived by her five children, Cindy (Gordon) Doram of Winfield, Alta., Jo-Ann Silver of Coaldale, Michael Degenstein of Fort Macleod, Shelley (Mike) Weidenfeld of Cowichan Bay, B.C., and Tracey Van Hierden of Fort Macleod. Patricia will be missed by her seven grandchildren, Dane (Christine) Doram of Winfield, Alta., Bobbie-Jo (Bret) Shipton of Grande Prairie, Ryan Van Hierden of Fort Macleod, Rick (Nicky) Van Hierden of Stanley Mission, Sask., Brittany (Ryan) Steele of Fort Macleod, Tiffany Weidenfeld of Langford, B.C. and Tyler Weidenfeld of Cowichan Bay, B.C.; and three great grandchildren, Marie, Lilly and Madison of Grande Prairie. Patricia is also survived by her siblings, Billy (Darlene) Smith of Saskatchewan, Glen (Maxine) Smith of Raymond., Ken Smith of Claresholm, Donna Smith of Coaldale and Alice Smith of Coalhurst; and her three nephews. Patricia was predeceased by her mother Birtha Smith (Oct. 24, 1984), her father William Smith (April 20, 1992), son-in-law Rick Van Hierden (Jan. 30, 1996), her brother Mark Smith (April 29, 1996) and her brother-in-law Bert McAdoo (Feb. 4, 2017). Patricia was born in Fort Macleod and married Mike on April 23, 1965. A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 643 20th St, Fort Macleod. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Pat’s name to the Alzheimer Society, No. 40, 1202, Second Ave. S., Lethbridge, T1J 0E3.
