1931 — 2019

Thomas James Best of Fort Macleod, beloved husband of Audrey Best, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019, at the age of 88 years.
Besides his loving wife Audrey, Tom is survived by his four daughters, Linda (Colin) Emerson, Wanda Bennett, Shannon (Richard) Tetz and Kathy Best; three stepsons, Kevin (Dawn) Cleaver, Wayne (Sharon) Cleaver and Perry (Misty) Cleaver; 12 grandchildren, Bonnie, Jason, Jessie, Bradley, Corey, Shane, Chelsey, Jasmine, Thomas, Josh, Kristen and Jamie; great grandchildren Annissa, Carmen, Justin, Ryan, Nathan, Riley and Adin; and great great grandchild Alex.
Born and lived his whole life in southern Alberta, Tom was a cowboy at heart. As a young man he was a ranch hand at Waldron and A7 ranches. Later on, his passion for driving lead him on his career that took him to all corners of Canada and the U.S.
Tom was also a musician in his earlier years and played in a band called Tommy and the Westerners. They played for many community dances and weddings, playing the banjo and guitar.
Tom loved working with wood and could spend hours in his garage tinkering in projects. His imagination for inventions never stopped.
Barbecues, picnics, camping and sitting by the campfire with family and friends were some of his favourite things. His beautiful smile and warm heart will truly be missed by his family and friends.
A memorial gathering will be held between 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, at Trinity United Church Hall, 220 20th St., Fort Macleod.
