The outdoor pool fund-raising project got a big boost last week from a Fort Macleod family and business.

Davis Dodge donated $50,001 Wednesday to the $3.5-million pool project.

“I have a lot of memories of this place,” John Davis said Wednesday during a visit to the construction site.

The Davis Dodge donation pushes the fund to more than $163,906.

The Town of Fort Macleod has a fund-raising goal of $250,000.

Mayor Brent Feyter thanked the Davis family for its contributions.

In addition to Davis Dodge, major donors to the pool project include Scougall Motors, $50,000 and the Rotary Club of Fort Macleod, $30,000.

The project includes demolishing the existing pool, tennis courts and skate park and supplying and installing a new six-lane 25-meter pool, lazy river area, one-meter diving board, beach entry and mechanical room.

Other features include a water umbrella, dump buckets, spray jets, 10-foot climbing wall, artifical turf and hydrojets.

There are several elements to the town’s fund-raising campaign.

Naming rights for the competitive six-lane pool are available for a contribution of $150,000.

Naming rights for the leisure pool are available for a donation of $100,000.

Lazy river naming rights are available for a donation of $95,000.

Businesses, organizations and individuals can put their name on the climbing wall for a donation of $25,000.

The various water spray features can be named for a donation of $15,000.

Contributions will be recognized on a donor’s wall that will be erected at the pool according to the following levels of contribution: diamond, $50,000 or more; platinum, $20,000 to $49,999; gold, $10,000 to $19,999; silver, $5,000 to $9,999; and friend, $150 to $4,999.
