Downside Up Media specializes in commercials, wedding videos

A Fort Macleod resident can bring business and personal moments into focus.

Award-winning filmmaker and videographer Riley Webster recently opened Downside Up Media, which specializes in commercials, Web and social media videos and weddings.

Riley has more than a decade of experience as a videographer, filming commercials and social media material in Calgary.

In 2015 Riley won the Rising Star Award at the Canada International Film Festival for co-directing the feature film Enclosed with Brian Miller. He also filmed two other feature films, Step Up To The West Side and Wandering.

Riley has filmed for large companies such as Axia, Vivo, Aqua Skin Care and Canyon Meadows Cinemas, as well as many small businesses. He was also one of the primary videographers for Make-a-Wish Southern Alberta and Ronald McDonald House Charities.

After moving to Fort Macleod about a year ago, Riley saw the need for his videography services in the community and two months ago started Downside Up Media out of his home.

Riley is excited for the opportunity to help local businesses develop commercials and other social media advertising, as well as helping families preserve important memories such as weddings.

“Web site and social media videos are a great way to market yourself — unfortunately, too many people do these videos themselves, which means they’re marketing themselves with low quality videos that cheapen their business,” Riley said. “Having these commercials professionally filmed by an award-winning videographer guarantees a higher level of quality and efficiency.”

It’s his more than 10 years of experience and low overhead that allows Riley to meet the needs of customers in Fort Macleod and district.

Downside Up Media will provide clients with efficient and affordable service that results in a high quality product.

“No matter your budget, I guarantee you’ll be satisfied with the videos I make,” Riley promises.

Riley provides services including  pre-production consulting and writing, shooting with high-grade professional equipment, and all post-production work like editing, music, sound, special effects, and animating the company logo.

Social media videos are typically 15 to 30 seconds, and Web site videos are 60 to 90 seconds.

The Fort Macleod company also specializes in wedding videos and real estate videography.

“Still photos are very important but video gives you a much more detailed taste of what a wedding or event was like,” Riley explained. “It lets you relive all the memories that might have been missed by a photographer, as well as giving people who didn’t get to partake in the event a feeling of ‘being there’.”
