Elisabeth Pfeffel walking in support of Pioneer Lodge

Elisabeth Pfeffel, 98, is staging a walk-a-thon to raise money for Pioneer Lodge in Fort Macleod.

Elisabeth Pfeffel has been a resident of Pioneer Lodge for the past two years.

COVID-19 has changed everything including family contact and activities for the residents.

Lodge fund-raising opportunities came to a halt because of the restrictions placed on care facilities.

This set of circumstances presented an opportunity for resident Elisabeth Pfeffel to take on some individual fund-raising in celebration of her 98th birthday.

Her fund-raising desire is to help buy supplies for activities and entertainment for the lodge residents.

Elisabeth has undertaken a walkathon. Her goal is to complete 98 loops around the facility and garden (eight to 10 kilometres) and she hopes to raise $2,500 in the process.

At present she has 22 committed donors with more to come.

Emil Wettstein is another resident at Pioneer Lodge and is Elisabeth’s coach, loop counter and cheerleader.

Elisabeth recognizes that all the staff at the Pioneer Lodge have been extraordinary in their efforts to keep the residents healthy and safe during this pandemic.

If anyone is interested in contributing to Elisabeth’s Walk they can donate to the lodge directly.

E-transfer to cao@wcfound.com or by cheque to the Willow Creek Foundation. Please mention that it is Elisabeth’s Walk for the lodge. Include your mailing address so a charitable tax receipt can be issued.
