The Rotary Club of Fort Macleod made good on a promise made in 2018 Monday with delivery of a $30,000 donation for the outdoor pool project.

Shortly after council announced the $3.5-million project, Rotary pledged $30,000.

“It’s going to be really nice when it’s done,” Rotary president Jim Monteith said of the pool scheduled to open next June.

Rotary is hopeful its donation will prompt other service groups to donate to the pool fund-raiser, which has topped $100,000 of its $250,000 goal. Scougall Motors earlier this month donated $50,000.

The fund-raising campaign offers sponsor the chance at naming rights for elements of the pool, including the six-lane 25-meter pool, the leisure pool, climbing wall, and water spray features.

There will be a donor wall at the pool recognizing contributions at the diamond, $50,000 or more; platinum, $20,000 to $49,999; gold, $10,000 to $19,999; silver, $5,000 to $9,999; and friend, $150 to $4,999 levels.
