Holiday Train concert set for Dec. 12

The CP Holiday Train tour was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The CP Holiday Train will make a virtual tour of Canada on Saturday, Dec. 12 in support of food banks.

When the COVID-19 pandemic forced CP to call off the 2020 tour it was decided to hold a virtual concert.

“The event will raise money and awareness and help local food banks collect much-needed donations,” explained Mike LoVecchio of Canadian Pacific.

LoVecchio wrote Fort Macleod council to note Serena Ryder and The Trews will headline the CP Holiday Train at Home concert at 6 p.m. Dec. 12.

And although the Holiday Train won’t pass through Fort Macleod as it has in previous years, the community will still benefit.

“CP will make a donation to the local food bank that we funded the last time the CP Holiday Train visited your community,” LoVecchio noted in his letter at the Nov. 23 council meeting at the G.R. Davis Administration Building.

LoVecchio said Canadian Pacific is hopeful the Holiday Train at Home concert will inspire others to donate to their local food banks.

The Salvation Army is in charge of the food bank on Third Avenue in Fort Macleod.

Donations can be dropped off at the Alliance Church on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday and Saturday by appointment.
