Fort Macleod Chamber to host antique and art sale

Fort Macleod Chamber of Commerce will stage its antique and art sale and show on June 18-19 at the Fort Macleod and District Sports Centre.

The Fort Macleod Chamber of Commerce is going ahead with its 2021 antique and art sale and show, with COVID-19 precautions in place.

The sale and show runs from 2-7 p.m. Friday, June 18 and 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 19 at the Fort Macleod and District Sports Centre.

“We are thrilled,” Chamber administrative assistant Sydney Tobler said of hosting the antique and art sale and show, which was cancelled last year due to the pandemic.

“I know a lot of people have felt cooped up and are excited to be able to get out to a market, However, we also need to be very cautious and aware COVID is still here and we will do everything possible to make sure we keep everyone who attends as safe as possible with the current rules in place.”

To comply with public health measures, the Chamber has modified its floor plan to put vendors a safe distance from one another.

Customers will be directed to follow a single lane of traffic through the arena, similar to how grocery and other stores have laid out floor plans during the pandemic.

In addition, people will enter the building through one set of doors and exit through another set.

“Masks will also be mandatory for venders, volunteers and guests,” Tobler said.

At present, 20 vendors have booked spaces at the sale and show but that number will grow as the event approaches.

Tobler said the vendors were excited to learn the Chamber was going ahead with the antique and art sale and show this year.

The vendors who have already committed will sell a wide variety of goods, ranging from furniture and collectibles to glassware and antique toys.

Several artists will also bring their work to the sale and show.

Fort Macleod Chamber of Commerce will need some help in order to stage the antique and art sale and show.

“We need around 16 volunteers due to needing to redirect traffic in the building and sanitizing and a few other duties that are required of us to host this event,” Tobler said.

If you would like to volunteer or be a vendor please contact Sydney Tobler at 403-715-2125.
