Fort Macleod Chamber to host virtual candidate’s forum

Fort Macleod residents can get a look at the seven town council and school board candidates on Monday, Oct. 4.

Fort Macleod Chamber of Commerce will live-stream a candidate’s forum starting at 7 p.m.

The forum will be streamed live on the Town of Fort Macleod’s YouTube channel and possibly Facebook live.

Chamber administrative assistant Sydney Tobler said Thursday the COVID-19 public health restrictions necessitated holding a virtual forum.

The forum will be streamed from council chambers at the G.R. Davis Administration Building.

Candidates will each give an opening statement, followed by a question and answer period.

“We are asking people to send in questions ahead of time,” Tobler said. “We will do our best to answer as many questions as possible.”

Questions can be sent to Sydney Tobler at fmchamber1888@gmail.com or Meranda Day Chief at m.daychief@fortmacleod.com.

The seven candidates for the six council positions are Gord Wolstenholme, Jim Monteith, Marco Van Huigenbos, Kristi Edwards, Werner Dressler, Mackenzie Hengerer and Nigel Edmunds.

Livingstone Range School Board candidates in Ward 3, which covers Fort Macleod and Pincher Creek, are incumbents Lori Hodges and Lacey Poytress  and challenger Purdy Martodihardjo.

The forum will be archived on the Town of Fort Macleod’s YouTube channel for people who are unable to tune in Oct. 4.
