Fort Macleod’s New Year’s Baby arrives

The son of Samuel and Leah Walter of the Ewelme Colony was born Jan. 8 at Pincher Creek Hospital.

Roman Gabrial Walter weighed eight pounds four ounces and was 20 inches in length.

Mother and child are both healthy and happy.

Fort Macleod Chamber of Commerce executive director Ashley Nelson went to Ewelme Colony on Friday afternoon to deliver a wealth of gifts for the New Year’s Baby.

“The Walters were surprised and very grateful to receive so many generous gifts from our community,” Nelson said.

The following is a list of the gifts and donors:

  • Hansen Family Foods – $100 gift card.
  • Homestead Bakeshop — strawberry rhubarb pie.
  • Fort Macleod Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) — baby toque, mitts and booties; art set for young artists; memory game.
  • Next Home and Garden — stuffy and books.
  • Fort Macleod Library — membership and books.
  • The Macleod Gazette — one year subscription.
  • Jon’s Independent Grocer — diapers, wipes, teether bib, and lotion.
  • Greenery on Main — diaper clutch, wall art, socks and stuffy.
  • Fort Pharmacy — diapers, wipes, baby shampoo/wash and lotion.
  • Horizon Herbs — lotion, lavender essential oil, throat tonic, bath bombs and soap.
  • Digbee’s Diner — picture frame.
  • Janita DeKok Photography — mini milestone session.

“The Chamber would like to thank our businesses for contributing and helping us shower our New Year’s Baby with our big, warm Fort Macleod welcome,” Nelson said.
