The writing of an area resident is part of a new inspirational book.
Sarah Tricker of Granum wrote a chapter for Inspired Living: A Guide to Ignite Joy and Prosperity.
“The book will appeal to people who are looking to be inspired,” Tricker said.
Tricker was a contributing writer for Brains Magazine, which includes articles from thought leaders and life coaches.
The monthly articles Tricker submitted to Brains Magazine led to a connection with Hille House Publishing.
Tricker was asked to write a chapter for Inspired Living, joining 22 other thought leaders as well as Larry Farwell, whose book The Science of Creating Miracles was a No. 1 best seller.
Inspired Living contains five sections titled Uncovering Inspiration, Following the Flow, Unleashing Creativity, Igniting Joy and Welcoming Prosperity.
Tricker was allowed to choose her topic, which wound up in the Following the Flow section.
“It’s really about getting back to nature and the cycles of life, and how when we follow the cycles of nature, life flows easy.”
Tricker came to the project late and had just a month to write her chapter.
Although she was rushed, Tricker was able to meet the deadline, submitting one draft for editing before polishing the final draft.
“It’s been a journey,” Tricker said. “I really wasn’t expecting how writing could be a journey of self-discovery.”
Tricker is a medium, psychic, tarot reader and healer who operated Tricker Tarot in Fort Macleod prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
An alternative holistic healer, teacher, and facilitator, Tricker’s services included Reiki healing, certified life coaching and yoga.
The pandemic forced Tricker to close her shop on Fort Macleod’s historic Main Street and move her business into her Granum home.
Tricker now offers her services through an on-line academy in which people learn at their own pace, in their own home, with the support from the instructor.
“Going to on-line was very isolating,” Tricker said of the effects of the pandemic. “This book has actually connected me with people . . . and I don’t feel so alone now.”
“I think as well, being published gives you more authority.”
Writing comes easily to Tricker, who when she was in high school aspired to a career as a journalist and took related courses while volunteering at a local newspaper.
While in college Tricker studied communications and English, but her career plans were put on hold after she got married and focused on motherhood.
Upon immigrating to Canada, Tricker attended the University of Lethbridge to earn an education degree and became a teacher.
Contributing to Inspired Living allowed Tricker to use her writing skills and gain experience in the publishing industry.
The experience has left her considering other possibilities.
“I do eventually want to write a book,” Tricker said
Inspired Living launched Friday, June 24 on Amazon.
Tricker is excited to share the book with the public, saying to book will have appeal to everyone.
“Everybody can be inspired,” Tricker said. “I think there’s such an array of writers in this book that there will be a chapter in there that will speak to you.”
Tricker felt a range of emotions knowing her work is part of a book that will be sold internationally. She kept the news from people for a long time due to her own nervousness, but that has been replaced by excitement.
Tricker is interested to see what new connections she will make through her writing.
“I am proud of this accomplishment. Many people speak about being writers and yet never get their work published. It’s an achievement that I definitely have pride over.”
