The Thunder took a 1-0 lead in the first period and extended it with another goal in the second frame.
The Mavericks got on the scoreboard with a third period goal by Hayden DeKok but could not get the equalizer.

Springbank Rockies scored five first period goals Saturday on their way to a 7-1 win over the Mavericks.
The Rockies led 5-0 after the first period and 6-0 after 40 minutes.
Fort Macleod got its only goal with three minutes left in the game, and the Rockies replied 15 seconds later to make the final 7-1.
Drayden Creighton had the only Fort Macleod goal and Caiden Vandervalk assisted.

Mavericks 6 Hawks 3
The Mavericks built a 4-0 lead in their second game of the day and cruised to a 6-3 win over Glenlake Hawks.
Hayden DeKok had a hat trick and set up another goal for the Mavericks and Theoren Ramsey, Carter Three Persons and Jase Vandervalk also scored.
Emily English, Layne Sharratt and Caiden Vandervalk each had an assist.
William Orich faced 26 shots in goal for Fort Macleod.
Mavericks 4 Thunder 1
The Mavericks avenged their earlier loss to Crowsnest Pass Thunder with a 4-1 win on Sunday morning.
The Mavericks went up 2-0 in the first period and closed out the win with two more goals in the third.
Drayden Creighton led the Mavericks attack with two goals and an assist and Hayden DeKok and Jase Vandervalk also scored.
Gabriel Guerrero and Caiden Vandervalk each had an assist.
William Orich turned aside 15 of the 16 shots he faced.
Mustangs 2 Mavericks 0
The Mavericks run ended Sunday when they were shut out 2-0 by McKnight Mustangs.
The teams were scoreless after one but the Calgary team got goals in the second and third periods to earn the win.
William Orich made 17 saves for Fort Macleod.
With the win, the Mustangs advanced to the championship game Sunday afternoon against Springbank Rockies
