Willow Creek 4-H District to host show and sale

Fort Macleod 4-H Beef Club members will take their cattle and sheep to market on Tuesday, June 7.

The 2022 Willow Creek 4-H District Show and Sale will take place at the Claresholm Agriplex.

Also taking part are the Claresholm Beef and Stavely-Parkland clubs.

For the first time, Tuesday’s show and sale ill include lamb and ewe projects from all three clubs.

The day gets under way at 8 a.m. Tuesday beginning with the weigh-in.

The parade of club, 4-H pledge and the singing of O Canada follows at 9:30 a.m.

The market lamb and ewe lamb show gets under way at 10 a.m., with the cleaver class immediately following.

The heifer show begins at 12 noon, followed at 2 p.m. by the steer show.

Awards will be presented at 4:45 p.m., followed by supper at 5:30 p.m. and the grand champion steer class at 6:30 p.m. The sale starts at 7 p.m.

Charity steer

The Willow Creek 4-H District has prepared an Angus X steer for sale to benefit the Claresholm and Fort Macleod district health foundations.

The steer will be auctioned on Tuesday, with entries available for $10 apiece. So if you bid $100, you get 10 entries in the draw at the end of the auction.

The person who wins the charity steer can take the beef, or get help from a 4-H family to sell the animal at a local market and take the cash.

Another option is to donate the steer back to the Willow Creek 4-H District to be re-sold Tuesday to increase the amount of money donated to the health foundations.

Fort Macleod 4-H Club members showing market projects on Tuesday include Ken Oudshoorn, Gianna Morris, Taylor McNab, Angelina Morris, Jack Hewlett, Hailey Chester, Natalie Donahue, Presley DeKok, Morgan McNab, Luke Donahue, Faith Hewlett, Carter Chester, Kendal DeKok and Hunter French.

Fort Macleod cleavers are Brody Bischler, Derek DeKok, Matthew Donahue and Claire Hewlett.
