Doyle rink wins Farmers and Friends bonspiel

It was a busy weekend at the Fort Macleod Curling Club as they held the annual Farmers and Friends bonspiel with 12 teams competing.

Coming out on top was the Travis Doyle rink comprised of Travis Doyle, Butch Ferguson, Jim Jenkins and Richard Giebelhaus. Second place in the A event was the Shane Doyle rink.

First in the B event was the Darcy Blair rink, followed in second place by the Brady Hester rink.

First in the C event was the Tamra Barwegen rink and second place was the Kateri Blair rink.

The team draw to the button was won by the Todd Goulet team, placing the rock right on the button. This event was sponsored by the Fort Macleod Vet Clinic.

It was a fun weekend of curling and socializing. Bonspiel sponsors were: Rocky Mountain Equipment, South Country Co-Op (Barons), Hanlon Ag Centre, Fort Macleod Vet Clinic, D-4 Farms Ltd., UFA Petroleum, Brendan Grant, AJM Seeds, Alberta Hardware, Davis Dodge, Granum Seed Cleaning Plant, Green Prairie International, Nutrien Ag Solutions, Richardson Pioneer (Nobleford), Scougall Motors, Westco, Western Tractor, Connect First Credit Union.

The curling club will host a doubles curling’ night on Friday, Feb. 17 th at 7 p.m. All ages welcome, come out and give doubles a try.
