Empress presents Mocking Shadows

Mocking Shadows, a Canadian soul and R&B band from Calgary, is bringing their groovy sound to the Empress on Friday, Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m., the fourth concert in the 2022-’23 Centre Stage Concert Series.

Mocking Shadows have been entertaining crowds across Canada since 1997. They give classic old-school Motown grooves a contemporary treatment, making this band a winner for teens, boomers and everyone in between.

The Shadows’ special brand of music, showmanship, and creativity have been refined with time, and their strong sound and energetic show has earned Mocking Shadows a place on the Canadian music scene with a line-up boasting talent from both Edmonton and Calgary.

The Shadows toured Canada with the legendary King of the Blues, B.B. King in 2001, 2002 and 2012.

They have also shared the stage with the likes of Buddy Guy, ZZ Top, Reba McIntyre and the Tragically Hip.

The line-up has changed over the years, leading to the introduction of funk elements along with tributes to the greatest soul artists of our time.

Mocking Shadows’ line-up features a variety of keyboards, a full horn section, guitar, bass, drums and a series of vocalists.

They are working to showcase their  line-up and sound with their seventh studio album, set for release in late 2023.
