Due to a lack of physician coverage, the Fort Macleod Health Centre emergency department was temporarily closed Thursday.
The emergency department closed at 8 a.m. Thursday and was not expected to re-opened until 8 a.m. Friday.
However, physician coverage was secured, ending the closure at 2 p.m. Thursday.
During the temporary closure, nursing staff remained on-site to provide care for long-term care residents.
Patients were asked to call 911 if they had a medical emergency.
EMS calls were re-routed to Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.
Patients seeking care could access emergency services at the Pincher Creek Health Centre, Cardston Health Centre or Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.
Residents are reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions.
Individuals requiring non-emergency medical care are also encouraged to call their family physician.
