Fort Macleod FCSS presents gifts to New Year’s Baby

Fort Macleod last week celebrated its 2023 New Year’s Baby.

Adrien Waldner was born Jan. 24 at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge.

Adrien, who weighed seven pounds seven ounces, is the second child for Evelyn and Brandon Waldner of the Greenwood Hutterian Brethren Colony.

Adrien was also welcomed by big brother Peter, aged three.

The midwife team at Chinook Regional Hospital assisted with the delivery, and the Waldners expressed thanks and appreciation for the outstanding service.

Fort Macleod Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) took over co-ordination of the New Year’s Baby gift program this year from the Chamber of Commerce.

FCSS director Amanda Lawrence collected a number of gifts from Fort Macled and district businesses to present to the Waldner family last week at the G.R. Davis Administration Building.

The donated gifts were as follows:

  • Jon’s Independent Grocers — Diapers, wipes, and a grocery gift card.
  • Fort Macleod Kids First Family Centre — Books, toys and a picnic blanket.
  • FCSS — Baby clothes, books and toys.
  • Horizon Herbs— Diapering kit.
  • Little Red Quilt Shack — Quilt.
  • Crazy Stitch — Onesie with logo.
  • Fort Museum — RCMP doll.
  • The Macleod Gazette — One-year newspaper subscription and a baby announcement advertisement.
  • Janita DeKok Photography — Six-month photo session.
  • Town of Fort Macleod — Family swim pass.
  • Structural Truss/Forma Steel — Grocery gift card.
  • Avail CPA — Books, swaddle clothes, bibs and toys.

The Waldners expressed their thanks for the generous gifts.
