A Fort Macleod man faces drug trafficking and weapons charges after the RCMP Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant Thursday.
The search warrant and investigation were completed in partnership with the Fort Macleod RCMP, RCMP police dog services and the Blood Tribe Police drug task force.
The RCMP seized five ounces of suspected methamphetamine; three ounces of suspected cocaine; one ounce of suspected fentanyl; eight ounces of suspected psilocybin; 150 ml of GHB; six tasers, two pair of brass knuckles and CS gas.
In April and May there have been a large amount of opioid related deaths in southern Alberta.
In response, RCMP Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit and the Blood Tribe Police drug task force, teamed up to target fentanyl traffickers in southern Alberta.
In the last three weeks, the police arrested and charged three fentanyl traffickers.

Carl Zehanoviz, 39, of Fort Macleod, is charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking; possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking; possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking; possession of psilocybin for the purpose of trafficking; possession of 4-hydroxybutanic acid (GHB) for the purpose of trafficking; and three counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.
Zehanoviz was held for a judicial interim release hearing and subsequently released on a release order with conditions.
Zehanoviz is scheduled to appear in Fort Macleod court of justice on Wednesday, June 21.
