Fort Macleod families will get a hand this month preparing for the start of school in September.
The annual Back to School Connect event will provide free school supplies and clothing.
Back to School Connect runs from 12 noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21 at the Fort Macleod and District Sports Centre.
In addition to the free school supplies and clothing, there will be a resource fair, pool party, and barbecue.
“This event aims to support our community’s students and parents by providing essential school supplies to ease the burden of ever-increasing costs,” FCSS said in a news release.
During Back to School Connect, families will be given lined paper, work booklets, markers, crayons, pencil crayons, pens, pencils, some lunch kits, erasers, sharpeners, highlighters, post it notes, Sharpies, whiteboard markers, glue sticks/white glue and scissors.
A selection of gently used clothing is available for free as well.
Anyone interested in making a donation of cash or gently used clothing can do so by Wednesday, Aug. 14.
“Your support will go a long way in ensuring that every student starts the school year equipped with the necessary tools to succeed,” FCSS noted.
“Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant impact on our community’s students and their families. Together, we can help them achieve a bright and successful academic year.”
