March 29, 1961 — Oct. 20, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carolyn (Carrie) Jean Warne of Fort Macleod on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024.
Carrie was born to Judy and Bill Warne on March 29, 1961, in Ottawa, Ont. Carrie grew up to be an expert horse woman and a devoted daughter, sister and auntie (the best auntie ever!).
Since moving to Fort Macleod roughly 20 years ago, she has run Carry Me Away B&B. Like a broody hen, she gathered anyone (or other living beings!) requiring care under her wings and was always looking out for the best interests of others before herself. The goodness of God and her saviour, Jesus, was present in many lives through her.
Carrie always enjoyed spending time with her family, especially shopping for outfits with her nieces, picking the perfect gifts for family members and friends, as well as for fundraisers. She was an active member of the Alliance Church of Canada and was very strong in her faith.
Besides spending time with family, Carrie thoroughly enjoyed gardening and had a special interest in homeopathy. She truly believed that if she could keep your house clean enough, that no germ could make you sick. Nonetheless, Carrie also had the knowledge and the remedies to heal you if you did become ill. Carrie shared her time freely and seemingly tirelessly and gave of her energy and resources to everyone God placed near her.
Carrie is survived by her parents Bill and Judy Warne; brother Jeff Warne of Keswick, Ont.; sister Sheila (Phillip) of Grenfell, Sask.; nephew Anthony (AJ) Warne; nieces Embree (Stephen) Valcourt, Stephanie Warne-Lang, Torrey (Tommy) Warne-Lang, Samantha Warne, and Sabrina Warne; great nephews: Joshua and Caleb Valcourt, Daylen and Evran Morrison, and Jack Comeau; and great nieces Teyla and Rebecca Valcourt, and Constance (Coco) Mercier.
“Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”
Psalm 37:4.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, that a donation be made in Carrie’s memory, to the Empress Theatre (Fort Macleod) or the Canadian Bible Society.
