Segboer, Darlene

July 17, 1959 — April 27, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darlene Segboer of Fort Macleod on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at St. Michael’s Health Centre in Lethbridge. She was surrounded by her family when she passed away peacefully at the age of 59 following a long battle with cancer.
Darlene was born on July 17, 1959 in Fort Macleod, the third child of Walter and Loraine Collar. After graduating high school in 1977 and attending SAIT, she worked as an administrative assistant for the Court of Queen’s Bench in Lethbridge for many years.
Darlene married Daniel Segboer in 1982 and they welcomed a son, Zachary, in 1987 and a daughter, Kaitlin, in 1990.
Darlene is remembered for her kind and thoughtful spirit. She was best known for her creativity and many craft projects. She made beautiful Christmas ornaments, baby blankets and fur teddy bears. She sold her creations at the Santa Claus Parade Stocking Sale every year, in the early years splitting a table with her father and the later years, with her daughter. Friends knew to look for her in her bright red sweater at the same table every year.
Darlene is survived by her husband Dan; children Zach (Andrea) and Kaitlin (Shaun); sister Diane (Mike) Lievers; brother Alan (Cher) Collar; sisters-in-law Diana and Patti (Randy) Segboer and many extended family members and friends.
Darlene was predeceased by her parents, her sister Carrol Burrows and her brother-in-law Randy Segboer.
A private memorial service for Darlene was held on Sunday, May 5, 2019. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to the Jack Ady Cancer Centre at Chinook Regional Hospital in her memory.
