TV show’s producers seeking top collectors

A new reality TV show is looking for Fort Macleod’s top collectors.
Producers of the popular TV shows Canadian Pickers and American Pickers are developing a new show tentatively titled Top Collectors.
The show will center around teams of two people who frequent flea markets, yard sales, barns, sheds and other spots looking to “pick” the best collectible items and sell them for a healthy profit.
“We are looking for people who are charismatic, knowledgeable about collecting, know how to spot hidden treasures, and flip items for profit,” explained Alexa D’Argenio, a producer for Cineflix Productions.
The producers want pickers who specialize in collecting vintage toys, oil and gas memorabilia, pop culture items, cast iron, TV and movie memorabilia and other interesting and unique items.
D’Argenio contacted Fort Macleod Antique Sale and Show organizer Terry Daniel to seek his help in recruiting potential pickers.
“They’re looking for people,” Daniel said.
Daniel told Chamber of Commerce members about the opportunity during the March luncheon at Luigi’s Pizza and Steak House.
The producers, who are from New York City, learned about the Fort Macleod Antique Sale and Show and contacted Daniel.
“It’s pretty good news,” Daniel said. “That’s the kind of attention we’re bringing to the town.”
