Sommerfeldt, Wilma

Wilma Sommerfeldt of Fort Macleod, born Jan. 16, 1961, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2015, at the age of 54 years.
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who has been called back home to the Lord.
Wilma is survived by her mother Gladys Sommerfeldt; her son Wade (Cherie) Johnson; grandchildren Riley, Brenden and Taylor; brothers Duane and Lorne Sommerfeldt; sisters Susan (Ben) Morrison and Audrey (Dennis) Murdock; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
Wilma was predeceased by her father Eugene Sommerfeldt; maternal grandparents James and Esther Provost; and paternal grandparents LeRoy and Irma Sommerfeldt.
Wilma’s sense of humor, infectious laugh and her beautiful smile touches all that knew her. The love for her pets Kena and Stretch was known by all. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and family doing anything involving the great outdoors.
Earlier this year Wilma was able to fulfill her dream and travel to Hawaii.
Throughout her life she worked at various jobs including her current job at Macleod Pioneer Lodge.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Holy Cross Church, 2604 Third Ave., Fort Macleod, with father Angell D’Costa officiating. A luncheon will be held at the Knights of Columbus hall following the service.
Memorial donations may be made in Wilma’s name to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, 700, 10665 Jasper Ave., Edmonton, T5J 3S9 or to the SPCA 12251 – 67th St. N.W., Edmonton, T5B 1M8.
